About the Mancomunitat
The Mancomunitat of the Ribera Alta (Association of municipalities of the Ribera Alta Region) is the local organization that brings together all the municipalities in the Ribera Alta. It consists of 35 municipalities that gather a population of 224,171 inhabitants, distributed over an area of 979.5 km².
The Mancomunitat manages services of interest for the municipalities represented, constituting a regional body where it is possible to debate issues that affect the people of the Region.
The Mancomunitat is responsible for:
- Promoting services and seeking effective improvements of the welfare of the entire population.
- Promoting actions for institutions and public and private organizations aimed at improving services.
- Participate, organize and collaborate on local events and on those that aim to raise awareness of our Region.
- Cooperate, participate and promote the dissemination of study materials in our Region written in our language, the Valencian.
The entity’s shape and its central position allow the organization to promote regional initiatives and participate in European programs and projects, always with a view to develop the Region of the Ribera Alta.
To develop its activities, the Association receives contributions from the municipalities represented in addition with funds from other public bodies.
The Plenary of the Mancomunitat is the supreme organ that governs and manages the Mancomunitat. It is composed of member municipalities’ representatives (all mayors and a number of councilors from each municipality).
The President, the Vice-Government Commission and several informative commissions complete the spectrum of the governing bodies of the Mancomunitat, which also has an Economic and Social Council with consultative functions.
