Mancomunitat of la Ribera Alta
The Mancomunitat of la Ribera Alta (Association of municipalities of La Ribera Alta) is a local organization that brings together all the municipalities in La Ribera Alta county.
It consists of 35 municipalities that bring together a population of 224,171 inhabitants, distributed over an area of 979.5 km².
The Mancomunitat manages services of interest to the municipalities represented, constituting a county-wide scale body where it is possible to debate issues that affect the people of the region.
The Mancomunitat is responsible for:
- Promoting services seeking effective improvement of the welfare of the entire population.
- Promote actions against institutions and public and private organizations aimed at improving services.
- To participate, organize and collaborate with local events and those that aim to raise awareness of our region.
- Cooperate, participate and promote the dissemination of study materials in our region written in our language, the valencian.
It is built in the shape of the entity of the county better adapted to promote regional initiatives and form part of certain European programs aimed mainly at the region of Ribera.
To develop its activities, the Association receives contributions from the municipalities represented plus funds from other public bodies .
The Plenary of the Mancomunitat is its supreme organ of government and management, and it is composed by members representing the member municipalities (all mayors and a number of councilors from each municipality).
The President, the Vice-Government Commission and several informative commissions complete the spectrum of the governing bodies in the Mancomunitat which, which also has an Economic and Social Council with consultative functions.
