GREETINGS FROM THE PRESIDENT OF THE MANCOMUNITAT
I would like to thank you for visiting the website of the Mancomunitat de la Ribera Alta. This is a public information space that aims to raise awareness of all the effort and dedication that the Mancomunitat puts into improving services and developing joint projects. It also aims to involve you in new initiatives that promote the well-being of the residents of the Ribera Alta region.
I accept the challenge of the Presidency, convinced of the importance of municipalism and the task of cooperation and territorial cohesion that must be carried out by the Mancomunitat. For this reason, we will seek models that reflect the reality of all the member municipalities, in order to efficiently and effectively resolve the problems that affect us and thus be able to initiate new strategies that benefit our towns and cities.
Finally, we want this space to provide an open window for the inhabitants of our region to learn about our association and also to provide a channel of communication so that we can all continue to build a region of which we feel great pride and a sense of belonging.

PRESIDENTS OF THE MANCOMUNITAT (1996 – 2023)
Responsible for creating the Mancomunitat and for the preliminary steps that enabled the project to get off the ground with 22 local councils in the Ribera Alta region.
Under his leadership, the first joint services were launched, such as waste collection (paper, glass and plastic), stray animal collection, social services such as the Service for Families with Children at Risk (SEAFI) and the Addictive Behaviour Prevention Unit (UPC).
In 2001, he promoted the creation of the Ribera Environmental Consortium, the future Ribera Energy Agency (AER) and the embryo of the future Consorci de la Ribera, which provides services for the Ribera Alta and the Ribera Baixa regions.
She undertook an organisational restructuring of the entity in parallel with the incorporation of new services, such as the management of drinking water supply for l’Alcúdia and Guadassuar, and the Valencian Promotion Office. During her tenure, the Mancomunitat obtained approval for the European LUMEN project to develop programmes to boost employment and the business fabric in the region with European funding, which would be the origin of the Ribera Employment Pact (PATER), involving the administration, trade unions and employers, which would eventually be integrated into the Consorci de la Ribera. In addition, the regional body participated in the first meeting of associations, which took place in Gandia and laid the foundations for future joint action by regional bodies.
He completed the process of uniting municipalities in the Mancomunitat with the accession of Catadau, the last of the 35 municipalities in the region that had yet to join the entity.
He took steps to increase the institutional weight of the entity, with its incorporation into the Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FEMP) and the creation of the Guardó de la Mancomunitat. He was responsible for the procedures for the financing and execution of the permanent headquarters, in a newly constructed building in Alzira.
During his term of office, services such as the departments of Culture, Youth and Sport and the Environment were also incorporated, and the package of social services for municipalities (Family Meeting Point and Basic Social Services) was expanded.
Her term in office was characterised by the management of European projects and the incorporation of new departments, such as the Regional Tourist Promotion Office “Riberaturisme”, and services such as AMBICI (bicycle transport), the Office for the Integration of Immigrants (AMICS) and the disciplinary proceedings management system.
At the institutional level, she undertook the twinning with the canton of Upala (Costa Rica) within the framework of an EU project (EuropeAID) for the training of local government technicians in sustainable development (Caldes).
A period of continuity characterised by the management of European projects and the incorporation of services such as the Consumer Affairs Office (OMIC) and services for dependent persons, vehicle removal, road safety education, technical assistance (engineering reports), IT assistance for local councils and the lifting platform, among others.
During the two terms in which Peláez presided over the Mancomunitat, services were expanded with the creation of, among others, the Regional Housing Office, the Heritage Digitisation Service, the Youth Service and the Equality Service, and the Selective Waste Collection Service was strengthened with the implementation of the Porta a Porta system. In addition, the Mancomunitat became a regional association in accordance with the Valencian Law on Associations.
