From 2 to 5 December 2024, the Mancomunitat de la Ribera Alta, through the Department of Youth, hosted the 4th final coordination meeting (TPM4) of the European Erasmus+ AGILE project.
AGILE “Ancient Games for Intergenerational Learning for Legality” is an intergenerational project for the transmission of values of traditional sports and games from older people to young people and future generations.
A total of 15 people participated in this, 5 per entity, corresponding to the partners that are part of the project from the countries of Italy (Fattoria Pugliese Diffusa), Romania (Association Sport for All from Suceava) and Spain (Mancomunitat de la Ribera Alta).
The objective of this meeting was the official presentation of the final results and resources generated in the project by all participating countries. Among these are:
In the first days, the participants had the opportunity to visit the Museu de la Pilota, located in the municipality of Genovés, and learn more about the history and trajectory of the sport of Valencian Pilota, as well as to carry out different cultural visits. In addition to this, the traditional game of Pic i Maneta and the sport of Piragua, known in our region for the famous “Descens del Xúquer”, presented by Spain.
In addition to carrying out different cultural visits related to the theme of the project, the participants of each delegation were able to experience first-hand a demonstration and implementation of the traditional sports and games of Spain of Pic i Maneta and Valencian Pilota, through the collaboration of the IES Càrcer and the CEIP Pare Pere Gumilla, and the participation of students, young people, adults and teachers.
Activities like these, framed within the project, are what allow participants of different nationalities to get closer to other cultures, learn about customs and traditions; and at the same time, that transmission of values between generations and countries.
With a duration of 2 years, in addition to collaborating with educational centers and different institutions of the Ribera Alta, the project has involved sports associations from the region such as the Scooter Club de piragüisme d’Algemesí; the Colla de Pilotaris d’Algemesí (Valencian Pilot); the Club de Pilota Valenciana de Guadassuar and the Associació Peu de la Creu d’Algemesí.
From the Mancomunitat de la Ribera Alta we would like to express our most sincere gratitude to all young people, students, seniors, professionals, institutions, educational centers and sports associations for their great involvement in this project. In addition, we would also like to thank the Italian partners Fattoria Pugliese Diffusa for their coordination, as well as the Romanian partners AJSPT Suceava, for their participation in the meeting hosted by our organization.
