The Alzira Town Council and the Mancomunitat de la Ribera Alta have created a 3D digital model of the Alzira Wall, based on thousands of aerial and terrestrial photographs of its volume, as part of the heritage digitisation work being carried out by both administrations.
The digitisation of the wall in the Saudi Arabia park section, which is around 256 metres long, has resulted in a virtual model of around 4 million points. The work has also been printed in 3D, in a one-metre-long set, completed with hand painting to highlight the heritage site above the rest of the urban complex.
The 3D print shows the different structures and elements of the wall and also makes it easier for people with visual impairments to interpret, as they can touch the piece and consult more information on a Braille panel.
The digitisation of the wall represents its current state and allows for the interpretation of future changes that will be made in the project to enhance this Asset of Cultural Interest by the Alzira Town Council.
This Site of Cultural Interest has posed a challenge for digitisation compared to previous projects that have followed the same methodology, such as the Torres de la Ribera in 3D, due to its size and work area. The photogrammetry and 3D reproduction work has been completed with a 360-degree virtual tour consisting of eight panoramic photographs with two thousand photographs and two aerial images.

The project has received a grant from the Regional Ministry of Finance, Economy and Public Administration, through the Directorate-General for European Funds. It is a continuation of several digitisation actions from the ‘Riberana’ Project, which began with the Mancomunitat’s participation in the Interreg Europe CD-ETA project.
