On Sunday, 19 October, the 27th Mancomunitat de la Ribera Alta International Chess Open was held, organised by the Algemesí Chess Club in collaboration with the Mancomunitat de la Ribera Alta and Algemesí Town Council.
The event took place at the facilities of the Fundació Caixa Cooperativa Algemesí, which provided its premises for the occasion, offering an excellent setting for the tournament.
The tournament was played under the Swiss system with seven rounds at a pace of five minutes plus three seconds per player, and featured the participation of 70 players from different clubs and nationalities.
Overall standings
The winner was FIDE Master Dexter Docampo Beltrán (Cuba, Club Ajedrez Meliana), who finished with 6.5 points out of a possible 7.
GM James H. Plaskett (England, Club Escacs Benimodo) took second place, while IM Sebastián Felipe Sánchez (Colombia, Club Escacs Mollet) completed the podium in third place.
IM Jhoel García (Peru, Club Escacs Benimodo) was the best player from Ribera Alta, while Bernat Guerola Trull (C.E. Algemesí) won the prize for best local player.

The awards ceremony was attended by Paqui Momparler, president of the Mancomunitat de la Ribera Alta, Juan Enrique Ribes, councillor for sports at Algemesí Town Council, and Alfredo Llombart, president of Club Escacs Algemesí, who congratulated the winners and highlighted the high competitive and organisational level of the tournament.
