This week, the Casa de la Cultura in l’Alcúdia hosted the Gender and Addictive Behaviours conference, organised by the Mancomunitat de la Ribera Alta through its Addictive Behaviour Prevention Unit and the regional body’s Equality and Coexistence Agency. The event was held in collaboration with the l’Alcúdia Town Council.
Over the two days of the conference, various topics were discussed, relating addiction to electronic devices, which mainly affects younger people, from a gender perspective. Several specialists participated in the conference, demonstrating, among other things, how gender influences social media, how new masculinities are presented through video games, and how we measure the effects and impact of gender on addictive behaviours.
The conference was opened by the president of the Mancomunitat de la Ribera Alta, Txema Peláez, the mayor of l’Alcúdia, Andreu Salom, and the director general of public health and addictions, Ofèlia Gimeno. It was attended by more than 200 participants.
