The president of the Mancomunitat de la Ribera Alta, Paqui Momparler Orta, presented the ‘Camí Natural Antic Trenet’ at FITUR, the International Tourism Fair, to promote our region.
Following in the footsteps of the Trenet from Carcaixent to Dénia, a pioneer among the peninsula’s narrow-gauge railways, this nature trail runs along part of the railway line for recreational use, all under the protection of the Agulles and Murta mountain ranges.
The Mancomunitat de la Ribera Alta manages and works to promote the Camí Natural de l’Antic Trenet as an attraction for natural and sustainable tourism.
The presentation highlighted the cultural and natural heritage surrounding the route through the municipalities of Alzira, Carcaixent, La Barraca d’Aigües Vives, Benifairó, Simat and Tavernes de la Valldigna: monasteries, modernist buildings, valleys and mountains… as well as restored railway heritage, such as two gatekeeper’s houses with new recreational areas.
The resources available for visitors to download were also shown, such as route tracks, brochures and connections to other cycle routes developed by Ribera de Xúquer – Turisme, as well as the promotional video for the Camí Natural de l’Antic Trenet.
