Conference: ‘We sew seeds, we reap change’

The Agency for Equality and Coexistence of the Mancomunitat de la Ribera Alta, in collaboration with the Ajuntament de l’Alcúdia, organised a training and awareness-raising day called ‘We sew seeds, we reap change: From managing emotions to building relationships’.

The main objective of the event was to learn about the elements involved in the construction of emotions and personality in childhood and the influence of different socialising agents in the construction of relationships between adolescents, applying a gender perspective.

The day was aimed at all citizens, but was particularly attended by teams of professionals working with children and adolescents in the fields of education, youth, social services, etc.

The speakers were professionals in the fields of psychology and sociology. The conference began with Coral Ariño, a neuropsychologist specialising in cognitive stimulation. The second panel featured sociologist Alexis Lara, founder of the La Comarca Científica platform and author of the book Negacionisme de gènere. Finally, there was a presentation by Mª Ángeles Hernández, a psychologist and sexologist who works on sex education and the prevention of gender violence with young people. It should be noted that each of the presentations was introduced and moderated by colleagues from departments within the Mancomunitat. Coral Ariño was introduced by Vera Boix, coordinator of the EEIIA; Alexis Lara was moderated by Ernest Llorca, coordinator of the Department of Culture and Valencian; and Mª Ángeles Hernández was introduced by Isabel Lozano, a technician from the UPCCAA department.

The conference was very well received, with an attendance of almost a hundred people. It was also attended by various political figures, such as the president of the Mancomunitat, Paqui Momparler, who concluded the conference together with the councillor of the Ajuntament de l’Alcúdia, Mª José Retamino Castel; and the mayor of l’Alcúdia, Andreu Salom Porta, who opened it.
