The Mancomunitat de la Ribera Alta will celebrate its 30th anniversary with an extensive programme of events throughout the year

9 January 2026

The Mancomunitat de la Ribera Alta celebrates 30 years of history this Sunday, 11 January, and will celebrate the occasion as it deserves. The regional body has prepared a series of events that will take place throughout the year to commemorate three decades of public service since a period of effort and setting aside differences led to the creation of the institution in 1996.

Throughout 2026, the institution will display a special 30th anniversary logo and a commemorative banner will be installed on the façade of its headquarters. Some special events have been prepared by the Mancomunitat and, on an individual basis, by each department.

Among the most notable events are the signing of a collaboration agreement with the Association of Municipalities of Cape Verde and the publication of a regional book. In addition, at the end of the year, there will be a meeting of associations of municipalities that will highlight the importance of structuring the regions through these institutions. There will also be the usual events, such as the annual chess and Valencian pilota tournaments and the presentation of the Honorary Award, which will also reach a milestone with its 20th edition.

The economic promotion department is preparing several activities, such as a regional meeting of Employment and Local Development Agencies in La Ribera, the workshop “La Ribera and Europe” and a day promoting local trade to mark Local Trade Day. On another important date, Responsible Consumption Day, the Consumer Information Service will carry out an awareness-raising campaign.

In the area of Youth, the second edition of the Mancomunitat Youth Award will take place, the II Youth Plan will be approved, and activities such as the IX Youth Forum will be held. Meanwhile, the Heritage Department will organise an international conference for the exchange of experiences between museums in La Ribera, attended by European experts. In addition, the Agency for Equality and Coexistence will hold a training day for professionals in the social and educational fields. The Social Services Department will also contribute to the programme with its thematic conferences focusing on primary care, as will the Regional Housing Office, with the theme of conflict mediation in housing matters.

The programme also includes the latest service incorporated by the Mancomunitat de la Ribera Alta, together with the Mancomunitat de la Ribera Baixa, the Mancomunitat de la Safor and the Consorci de la Ribera: the Animal Shelter, which will hold an animal fair. Another must-see event for nature lovers will be a cycle route along the Camí Natural de l’Antic Trenet.

The Department of Environmental Education will award the 2026 Sustainable Trade Seal, a distinction that recognises establishments that work every day to reduce waste, separate it correctly and commit to more responsible consumption, continuing the initiative that began in 2025. Finally, a special Christmas magazine on the environment will be published.

In short, the Mancomunitat de la Ribera Alta is presenting an extensive programme to celebrate its 30th anniversary and continue to highlight its importance as a public service connecting 35 municipalities and one smaller local authority. It will be a busy year, but above all the celebrations, the main challenge for 2026 will be to serve the more than 235,000 people who live in the Ribera Alta.
