■ The president of the Mancomunitat de la Ribera Alta, Paqui Momparler, and the mayor of Alfarb, Vicent Alfonso, have signed an agreement for the exhibition of eight 3D-printed towers to be permanently located in the Torre o Castell d’Alfarb (13th century)
■ The exhibition will be open to visitors for a few weeks each year in other towns in la Ribera
The Mancomunitat de la Ribera Alta is offering its exhibition ‘Torres de la Ribera en 3D’ (Towers of the Ribera in 3D) at Alfarb Town Hall, where it can be visited permanently in the museum space of its castle, in the centre of the town. This tower is one of the stars of the show, and it’s the perfect place to display this collection of digitised, three-dimensional reproductions of eight heritage sites from across la Ribera Alta.
The president of the Mancomunitat de la Ribera Alta, Paqui Momparler, thanked Alfarb and its mayor, Vicent Alfonso, for opening the doors to the exhibition and believing in ‘the value of who we are and who we were’. With the signing of the agreement to establish the Alfarb tower as the permanent home of the exhibition, ‘we are putting down roots for our heritage, giving it a home, a home that is also a tower, a witness to centuries and a sentinel of time’.
This initiative by the Ribera Alta heritage department has visited eight different towns in three years (Algemesí, Alzira, Antella, Benifaió, Cullera, Llombai, Montroi, and Alfarb). The exhibition includes several digital elements accessible via QR codes and prints and paintings of eight towers.
For his part, the mayor of Alfarb, Vicent Alfonso, emphasised that having the 3D exhibition of the towers of La Ribera in the village ‘is a plus, because visitors who come to see the tower of Alfarb, which has been open since it was restored about four years ago, can learn about the other Arab towers of La Ribera and then plan to visit the others with the information they find at the exhibition’.
The agreement signed includes the transfer of the material and collaboration in its dissemination and promotion, and has a minimum duration of four years. The exhibition includes polymer prints of the towers of Alfarb, Antella, the Racef tower in Almussafes, the Plaça tower and the Mussa tower in Benifaió, the Alèdua tower in Llombai, Castell de Montroi and Torre dels Coloms in Alzira. These are Assets of Cultural Interest, some with more than a thousand years of history. The exhibition will be open at the Alfarb Tower during its regular opening hours.
