This morning, at the headquarters of the Mancomunitat de la Ribera Alta, a series of events were held to mark 25 November, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women.
On the one hand, as an artistic and awareness-raising action, plaques were hung to pay tribute to the 52 women murdered in 2023. Immediately afterwards, at 12 noon, a collaborative manifesto was read out, with the participation of the Mancomunitat staff, highlighting the importance of joint action by both society and public institutions to eradicate this type of violence.
Finally, in the meeting room, a video from the ‘Trenquem el silenci’ (Break the Silence) campaign was presented, produced by colleagues from the Agency for Equality and Coexistence, with the active participation of the public. The video has been a huge success on social media, with over 17,000 views and more than 600 likes.
The Mancomunitat would like to thank the staff for their participation and invite them to take part in the rest of the events that will be held throughout the weekend in our region. It is time to act.
25 November campaign: ‘Trenquem el silenci’
The Mancomunitat de la Ribera Alta presents the ‘Trenquem el silenci’ campaign, created by the Equality and Coexistence Agency team.
Gender-based violence is not a private problem, it is a structural problem, a violation of human rights that concerns us all, both society and institutions. That is why the Mancomunitat de la Ribera Alta wishes to reaffirm its commitment to the fight against gender violence.
This year, we have chosen to focus our campaign on raising awareness among all citizens that we can only put an end to this gender-based terrorism if we all get actively involved, giving our full support to victims and reporting abusers.
The Mancomunitat de la Ribera Alta would like to thank all citizens for their commitment to preventing gender-based violence, especially the men and women who have participated directly in this campaign. It is time to act.
