The Mancomunitat de la Ribera Alta and the Carcaixent Town Council present the Virtual Tour of El Palau de la Marquesa and the Hermitage of Sant Roc, two of the most important buildings in the municipality’s architectural heritage.
This virtual tool allows visitors to take a tour of the palace and learn about its history, discovering its most significant features and appreciating its interior decoration. In the case of the chapel, in addition to the virtual tour of the interior, a 3D impression obtained using photogrammetry will be presented. The technical work has been carried out by the Heritage Department of the Mancomunitat de la Ribera Alta.
The Palau de la Marquesa de Montortal, popularly known as the ‘Palau de la Marqueseta’, is an 18th-century building that underwent major structural and decorative renovations in the 19th century. It currently houses several municipal offices. The noble house stands out for its ceramic and pictorial decoration and its neoclassical Valencian cuisine. The virtual tour consists of twelve panoramic photos and more than a thousand photographs, resulting in high-resolution, sharp images.
Paco Salom, Mayor of Carcaixent, is grateful for the collaboration between the two entities and highlights the use of new technologies and all that they can offer to both aspects of the project, its cultural-heritage character and its tourist character.
Txema Pelàez, President of the Mancomunitat de la Ribera Alta, affirms that the two entities will continue with new digitisation initiatives as a sign of their commitment to the defence and promotion of heritage. The work has been made possible thanks to the framework agreement signed by the Mancomunitat de la Ribera Alta and the Carcaixent Town Council in May 2021 with the aim of strengthening their working capacity.
Pasqual Boqueta, Councillor for Culture, explains that this digitisation is another step forward in promoting our cultural heritage, which has been the emblem of this legislature, and highlights the work being done on the Hermitage, which takes us back to our roots as the first Christian parish in the municipality. Declared a Site of Cultural Interest, it is one of the most unique buildings in the entire Ribera region, as it preserves its original structure. Now, in addition, the Gothic murals inside (14th-15th centuries) are being restored: these are unique paintings of great historical and artistic value, which will also be added to the virtual tour once the technical process is complete.

The initiative is part of the digital catalogue of the region’s heritage and is the result of the Mancomunitat de la Ribera Alta’s participation in the Interreg Europe CD-ETA project for the dissemination of heritage and its digital preservation.
