The president of the Mancomunitat de la Ribera Alta, Paqui Momparler Orta, accompanied by Oscar Giménez Gras, director of programmes for the management of European MRR funds linked to tourism, from the Turisme Comunitat Valenciana entity, met with the mayors of the region to inform them about the possibilities offered by the new line of subsidies from Turisme CV, within the framework of the Strategy for Sustainable Tourism in Destinations.
During the meeting, several proposals for action were presented, aimed at improving sustainability, mobility and the enhancement of the natural and cultural heritage of the Ribera Alta.
Among the main lines of action proposed are restoration work and interpretive panels in river areas, the creation of climate islands and the connection between towns via cycle paths and footpaths.
The actions are proposed within the framework of several lines of direct subsidies to local entities within the Tourism Sustainability Strategy in Destinations, which include, among others:
– Green and sustainable transition: Adaptation to climate change, flood prevention, adaptation of riverbeds and protection against erosion.
– Improvement of energy efficiency: Creation of cycling infrastructure and adaptation of routes.
– Tourism competitiveness: Improvement of the urban environment.
The president of the regional body highlighted the importance of taking advantage of this aid to promote a more sustainable and environmentally friendly model of tourism, as well as to foster connections between municipalities and enhance the natural and cultural heritage of the Ribera Alta region.
