■ It is the sixth town in La Ribera to visit the exhibition.
The Mancomunitat de la Ribera Alta and the Ajuntament d’Antella present the exhibition ‘Torres de la Ribera en 3D’ (Towers of the Ribera in 3D), taking advantage of the fact that the Antella tower is one of the elements belonging to the exhibition. The venue chosen is the emblematic Casa de les Comportes. The exhibition includes a model made from 3D printing of eight towers in the Ribera. The work is the result of 3D digitisation using thousands of drone and terrestrial photographs, and the creation of digital models that allow them to be printed to scale.
Paqui Momparler, president of the Mancomunitat, highlighted that ‘the Mancomunitat de la Ribera Alta has been responsible for bringing to fruition a very important project for the preservation and digital dissemination of the heritage of the Ribera. We are opening up our heritage to the public: with Antella, there are now six municipalities where this travelling exhibition has been on display‘. She added that ’the Arab towers are Assets of Cultural Interest, they are a symbol and example of the richness of our history and our culture’.
On behalf of the Ajuntament d’Antella, its mayor, Eugenia García, thanked the Mancomunitat for its work and highlighted that the exhibition includes a symbol of Antella, the Tower, ‘a symbol of two cultures, the Arab and the Christian, as is the emblematic Casa de las Compuertas where we are now’, and invited people to visit the exhibition during the month of August.
The event was attended by Antella chroniclers Ramón Estarlich and Marina Estarlich, who pointed out that the towers lost their military and defensive function after the expulsion of the Moors. The tower in Antella remained in the town centre and ‘was integrated into the stately home of the Baron of Antella, as shown in the town’s charter’. Ramón Estarlich explained the historical and architectural interest of the exterior and interior of the Tower of Antella, especially its upper floors, with the watchtower and a unique spiral staircase.
The exhibition includes a polymer print of the privately owned towers of Antella, as well as the castle of Alfarb, the Racef tower in Almussafes, the Plaça tower and the Mussa tower in Benifaió, the d’Alèdua tower in Llombai, the Castell de Montroi and the Torre dels Coloms in Alzira.
The towers, declared Assets of Cultural Interest, date from the 9th to the 15th centuries. A painting by a team of restorers has been incorporated into the print. The exhibition features Braille panels and QR codes with videos, texts and virtual 3D elements of the towers.
The exhibition will be open to the public from Monday to Friday, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
