The Commissioner for Reconstruction coordinates a meeting in the Mancomunitat de la Ribera Alta with municipal officials, the President of Seiasa and the Delegate of Tragsa to explain the scope of the actions, which will focus on repairing all affected rural roads
The Government’s Special Commissioner for Reconstruction and Repair of Damage Caused by the DANA, José María Ángel, met this morning at the headquarters of the Mancomunitat de la Ribera Alta with representatives of the 28 municipalities in the province of Valencia to which the Ministry of Agriculture has extended support and recovery measures for agricultural activity.
These are municipalities whose farms were also affected by the rain and flooding between 28 October and 4 November. In order to speed up the recovery of economic activity in these areas, the Ministry of Agriculture has committed to repairing the rural roads that were damaged as a result of the DANA in these 28 municipalities.
The meeting was also attended by Francisco Rodríguez Mulero, president of Seiasa, the public company under the Ministry of Agriculture responsible for supervising the work, and Juan Miguel Alepuz, representing Tragsa, which is responsible for carrying out the work.
As Rodríguez Mulero explained, the action plan in each municipality will be based on its specific needs, determined from the assessments submitted by the local councils and visits to the area by the company Tragsa. The works will be carried out directly by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food through Tragsa, under the direction of the public company SEIASA, and coordinated by the Government’s Special Commissioner for the Repair and Reconstruction of the damage caused by the DANA.
Of the 28 localities that will benefit from these measures, 14 belong to the Ribera Alta region, which is why this area was chosen as the venue for the meeting. These are Alberic, Benimodo, Benimuslem, Carcaixent, Castelló, L’Ènova, Gavarda, Manuel, Massalavés, La Pobla Llarga, Rafelguaraf, Sant Joanet, Senyera and Tous. As the President of the Mancomunitat de la Ribera Alta and Mayor of Senyera, Paqui Momparler, pointed out, a total of 28 municipalities in the region suffered the consequences of the DANA to a greater or lesser extent, as in addition to these 14, there are 14 others that were included in Annex I of RD 6/2024.
In addition to the aforementioned towns in Ribera Alta, the extension of the Ministry measures will also benefit Aras de los Olmos, Benagéber, Chelva, Chulilla, Losa del Obispo, Titaguas, Tuéjar and Villar del Arzobispo, in the Serranía region; Casinos and Benaguasil, in Camp de Túria; Barxeta, in La Costera; Millares, in Canal de Navarrés, and Xeraco in La Safor.
The Ministry’s objective is to begin work as soon as possible, and to this end, it has asked local councils that have not yet done so to submit their reports on requirements, based on the model provided, to Tragsa and the Commissioner before 15 April.
