The Mancomunitat de la Ribera Alta has awarded the 2025 Honorary Award to the Ribera Multiple Sclerosis Association during a ceremony held on Friday, 21 November, at the Casal Fester in Algemesí. This distinction has been awarded continuously since 2007 to individuals and entities that have publicly excelled in their artistic, cultural, sporting, civic, professional or research activities, promoting the cultural, economic and social progress of the Ribera Alta.
The 19th edition of the Award has been presented to the Ribera Multiple Sclerosis Association for its commitment to social welfare and, by extension, to our society. This organisation, born out of solidarity and shared empathy, has established itself over the years as an essential reference point in supporting people diagnosed with multiple sclerosis and their families.
In the unanimous decision to award the prize, the Mancomunitat recognised that the association has succeeded in creating a space for community, hope and shared strength, and that its daily activities, based on professionalism and altruistic dedication, have helped to raise awareness of a complex disease and to demand the necessary resources to improve the quality of life of those affected. In addition, it has established links with institutions, health centres and social agents that have made possible a support network that transcends the local sphere and strengthens the cohesion of the entire region.
The president of the Mancomunitat de la Ribera Alta, Paqui Momparler Orta, presented the award together with the mayor of Algemesí, José Javier Sanchis Bretones. The award was collected by Diego Caballero, president of the Ribera Multiple Sclerosis Association, accompanied by the vice-president of the organisation.
