Participation in the conference on the ‘Memories and Personal Heritage’ Project

6 February 2026

The Mancomunitat de la Ribera Alta participated in a conference on the ‘Memories and Personal Heritage’ project organised by the Association of Conservators and Restorers of Spain, with funding from the Ministry of Culture. The project has made it possible to recover furniture, household goods, clothing and other items damaged by the DANA storm from Valencian families who have entrusted them to professionals for restoration.

The president of the Mancomunitat, Paqui Momparler Orta, participated in this conference to present the results, highlighting both the relationship and collaboration of mayors in communicating the call to residents, as well as the relationship between digitisation and heritage preservation.

Fourteen towns in La Ribera are located in the so-called ‘zone 0’ of the DANA, particularly due to the severity of the damage caused by the overflowing of the River Magre, a tributary of the Xúquer.

The ‘Memories and Personal Heritage’ project asked the Mancomunitat to sign a collaboration agreement to inform each resident who had suffered, in addition to other personal damage, a loss or deterioration of these objects of special value.

These are objects, but also personal stories: a mirror with marquetry from the late 19th century, used by different generations; a table that has brought together dozens of family members for more than a century… pieces with artistic value, but above all with high sentimental value and memories that have returned to these families in La Ribera thanks to the ‘Memories and Personal Heritage’ project.
