The Consorci de la Ribera was present at the 2026 edition of Fitur, the International Tourism Fair in Madrid, where it presented the attractions of La Ribera. The organisation, formed by the associations of municipalities of La Ribera Alta and La Ribera Baixa, promoted active and sustainable tourism in which nature plays a leading role during its presentations in the IFEMA pavilions.
The president of the Ribera Alta Association, Paqui Momparler Orta, gave a presentation on the Antic Trenet Nature Trail at the Caminos Naturales stand in the Ministerio de Agricultura, Pesca y Alimentación pavilion. During the session, she outlined the route, its history, activities and main points of interest. She also explained the new features for 2026 inside the gatekeeper’s huts, which will be converted into information centres for visitors to the Nature Trail. Momparler was accompanied by Toni Barea Olmos, president of the Consorci de la Ribera, and representatives from the town councils of Alzira, through its mayor, Alfons Domínguez Gento, and Carcaixent, through its councillor for tourism, Fina Naya Tamarit.
On the other hand, the Consorci de la Ribera has organised a presentation on active tourism in La Ribera, led by Toni Barea Olmos, Paqui Momparler Orta, and the director of the tourism department, Graciela Olivert. The descent of the Xúquer as a river tourism activity, the Antic Trenet Nature Trail, cycle tourism and the ‘Paratges’ routes with environmental visits to areas of great natural value were the main topics presented in the presentation room of the Valencian Community.
In addition, the delegation from the Consorci de la Ribera met with representatives from other institutions that also participated in Fitur. Among other national and international figures, the visit of Per-Arne Hjelmborn, Sweden’s ambassador to Spain, stands out. The Consorci maintains links with the Scandinavian country through the implementation of various European projects.
In short, the presentations on active tourism in La Ribera and the Antic Trenet Nature Trail reinforce, once again, the vision of sustainable tourism through natural and cultural heritage. With this idea in mind, the Consorci de la Ribera has developed its presence at Fitur, the leading event for the promotion of tourism.
