- The exhibition includes polymer prints of the towers of Alfarb, Antella, Racef Tower in Almussafes, Plaza Tower and Mussa Tower in Benifaió, Alèdua Tower in Llombai, Castell de Montroi and Torre dels Coloms in Alzira.
The president of the Mancomunitat de la Ribera Alta, Paqui Momparler, and Raúl Mínguez, mayor of the municipality, presented the exhibition ‘Torres de la Ribera en 3D’ (Towers of the Ribera in 3D), which can be seen at Castell d’Alfarb until the end of July.
The president of the regional body emphasised that ‘this is a special opening because it is being held inside one of the towers and because it is the first time we are exhibiting them with the addition of paintwork on the 3D models, to give a more realistic and beautiful image’.
For his part, Raúl Mínguez, mayor of Alfarb, thanked the Mancomunitat for bringing the exhibition to the town: ‘We hope that everyone will enjoy it and that it will be widely publicised during these six months.’
The event was also attended by the mayor of Llombai, Salvador, the municipality that will host this exhibition in the future, as well as the one dedicated to the chapels of La Ribera.
The Towers, declared a Site of Cultural Interest, date from the 9th to the 15th centuries. They have been digitised using drone and terrestrial photogrammetry techniques. As a new feature, a team of restorers has incorporated a painting into the print.
The exhibition on the towers has visited different municipalities in the Ribera region: in 2022, it was at the market in Algemesí and the MUMA museum in Alzira, before continuing its tour to the tower in Plaça, Benifaió and the Town Hall in Montroi. The regional authority is making this resource available to its municipalities so that they can exhibit it and bring their heritage closer to their neighbours. The Arab towers, declared Assets of Cultural Interest, are a symbol of the Ribera region, some with more than 900 years of history. The Mancomunitat de la Ribera Alta is committed to the digitisation of different cultural and natural assets in the region using innovative formats such as 3D models, virtual tours and 360-degree panoramas. The Riberana website offers audio descriptions and multimedia information such as videos, 3D models and documentation.
The exhibition will be open to the public at the Alfarb Tower on Saturdays and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. until the beginning of July.
